What is Scuba?
Scuba originally was an acronym for self contained underwater breathing apparatus, but it has now become a well-recognized word on its own. Scuba diving is the practice of diving underwater using scuba equipment to breath underwater. The scuba set of equipment usually includes a scuba tank of compressed air, swimming fins, snorkel mask and tube, buoyancy control device, wetsuit, and a weighting system.
There are many types of diving, including recreational diving, commercial diving, military diving, and industrial diving. In recreational scuba diving, people dive purely for their own enjoyment. Within recreational diving, there are many areas that a diver can specialize, including underwater photography, cave diving, wreck diving, ice diving, deep diving, and diving at altitude.
