Pre-Dive Safety Check

Pre-Dive Safety Check

Before beginning your dive, you should always recheck your equipment and your buddy’s equipment. There is a standard procedure used to do this that can be remembered with the acronym BWRAF, which stands for Begin With Review and Friend. This means that you check your own equipment, and then you check your buddy’s equipment and they check your equipment. BWRAF also indicates the equipment you should check: B for BCD, W for Weights, R for Releases, A for Air, and F for Final OK. Do this every time before beginning a dive.
